Heavy-vehicle drivers play an essential role in ensuring the efficient transport of goods and materials over a variety of routes. As a truck driver, you make a valuable contribution to society, whether on urban, interurban, provincial or even international routes.
Your job also involves moving trailers between loading docks and transit yards. In this warm and friendly environment, trucking professionals distinguish themselves by making a valuable contribution to society. Your dedication and energy make you an indispensable player in the functioning of the economy.
With a Class 3 license, you can drive a two-axle truck with a net weight of 4,500 kg (4.5 tons) or more, as well as any other truck with three axles or more.
The main duties of professional truck drivers vary according to the distance of their deliveries. If you’re involved in long-distance routes with heavy trucks (over 4,500 kg), you’ll need to plan your trips carefully, make sure you obtain all the necessary documents, thoroughly inspect your vehicle and its cargo, and comply with freight laws and regulations as part of a team with the dispatcher and mechanic.
If you opt for short-haul trips within a city or between close-by towns, your role is to carry out thorough inspections of your vehicle, as well as frequent loading and unloading of your cargo.
