Shipping Reception Clerk

Job description

  • Determine shipping method and make necessary arrangements
  • Prepare loading notes, customs documents, invoices and other shipping documents, manually or on the computer
  • Assemble containers and crates of merchandise, record and label them
  • Monitor loading and unloading of items into vehicles
  • Examine and verify items against documentation, note missing items and return damaged items
  • Unpack, code and distribute items to appropriate storage locations
  • Manage internal record keeping systems, manual or computerized
  • May operate a forklift, hand truck or other equipment to load, unload, transport or store items
